Addiction, Psychosis, Mental Health Institutions, Jails, Recovery, Wellbeing | #4

My brother and I are going to explore his experience with psychosis, addiction, mental health institutions, jails, and his journey into recovery and a life he enjoys living.

This man has continuously amazed me throughout his journey. Some things he has done are quite inspiring and I am going to ask him how he managed to do those things while he was navigating his illness.

I want to ask him about some of the horrendous experiences he endured and potentially shed light on some situations he and I have never really had the chance to discuss.
I hope to help pull out insights that can be helpful for families who have someone living with schizophrenia or who are being impacted by an illness that results in psychosis.

As gut-wrenching as it is, love is the only answer, that doesn’t mean we don’t have to hold people responsible for their actions and have high expectations of them. It doesn’t mean we have to put ourselves or our families in danger to compensate for their illness.
What it means is that by loving them unconditionally we keep a connection to their hearts which is always the place that the healing starts
