Mike Stroh is a mental health speaker, consultant and educator. Drawing from unique personal and family experiences, he shares a message of courage, hope, resilience, and joy.

Mike has a plethora of self-care practices he draws upon to encourage people to see how “We’re empowered by our experience, not inhibited” and to ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’. – Gandhi.

Mike founded Starts With Me as a platform to support schools, community service providers, hospitals, and businesses to increase their capacity to support the people they serve. Mike experienced and witnessed first hand the lack of sufficient care for mental illness as a caregiver to his brother who lives with schizophrenia and was inspired to do something about it. Now as a parent of two young children, he has begun to work with all ages of young people and their families to help them build resilience and well-being.

Mike is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and sits on the Ontario Drug Policy Research Network’s Citizens Advisory Panel and the St. Michael’s Hospital Community Advisory Panel for Mental Health and Addiction.

Starts With Me develops custom workplace training programs tailored to the unique needs of each client and workplace culture.

Starts With Me is partnered with the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board to deliver mental health talks, presentations, and workshops. He is committed to transforming k-12 mental health education and is doing so through the creation of Ontario curriculum aligned lesson plans.
